St. Paul Episcopal Church, adjacent to the Town Hall Green, swings into full holiday mode with two events this weekend, highlighted by its annual holiday crafts and gift fair on Saturday, Dec. 1.
On Friday evening, Nov. 30, the church will operate a Christmas Tree Cafe in conjunction with the lighting of the town Christmas tree on the abutting green. The cafe will operate from 5 to 8 p.m. selling hot cider and coffee. Fairfield's ChiliBomb Restaurant will serve chili dogs, 'burb bakes and Portuguese biscotti.
The 55th annual St. Nicholas Fair on Saturday will feature a holiday gift boutique, plus handcrafted items such as ornaments, decorated wreaths and holiday greenery.
The fair is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parish hall, and admission is free.
It will include the sale of baked goods, gift baskets and used books. At a children's workshop, kids can make crafts and purchase small gifts for their families.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Cafe St. Nick's will serve a holiday luncheon of hot entrees, wine, dessert, coffee and tea served by singing waiters. Lunch is $20.
Cafe St. Nick's will be open all day, serving snacks, and St. Nick himself will visit with chocolate coins for boys and girls.
Parishioners donate their time and talent each year to transform the parish hall into a shopping showcase.
