The red, white and blue spirit of July 4 rolled out Saturday for the annual bicycle parade through Southport Village organized by the Pequot Library.

With a megaphone shout of “Go!” from Heather-Marie Montilla, the Pequot Library’s executive director, dozens of youngsters mounted bicycles, scooters and wagons festooned with stars-and-stripes regalia and headed down Pequot Avenue to the library’s Great Lawn for a community celebration of the holiday.

Led by Police Officer Chris Mastronardi astride his motorcycle, the entourage quickly arrived at the library for old-fashioned July 4 fun with traditional games like sack rades, crafts-making, hot dogs and ice cream.
