Power has been fully restored in Fairfield early Thursday in the wake of heavy rain and strong winds that wreaked havoc Tuesday night.

The storm, which triggered street flooding and sparked power outages around the region, forced several roads to be shut down because of flash flooding, including a stretch of Interstate 95 in the Westport/Norwalk area.

As of 5 a.m. Thursday, United Illuminating Co. reported that power had been restored to all 21,900 customers in Fairfield, where scattered outages had persisted Wednesday evening.
