FAIRFIELD — Police said a Stratford woman tried to get into cars stopped at a traffic light in an attempt to flee from authorities after allegedly shoplifting jewelry from Kohl’s, 290 Tunxis Hill Road, Sept. 30.
Heather Andreucci, 34, of South Avenue, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, second-degree breach of peace, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.
According to police, store security called about a shoplifting in progress and said Andreucci was pulling tags off of jewelry and putting the items in her purse. Security followed her out of the store, where they said she got in, and then out of, two cars that were stopped at a traffic light at Greenfield Street. She was located by police on Pickwick Street.
Police said Andreucci had the jewelry in her purse, along with $857 in cash, marijuana and Xanax. Andreucci, who police said was a convicted felon, allegedly admitted to stealing the jewelry. Police said she was on probation and was previously convicted of armed robbery, burglary, and larceny.
Andreucci was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Oct. 11.
