A 17-year-old Bridgeport youth was arrested at the town's Alternative High School on Biro Street Tuesday after the dean allegedly found him in possession of four bags of marijuana.

Police said the dean smelled burnt marijuana on the student's clothes Monday, and on Tuesday, a witness reported seeing what appeared to be a drug transaction outside the school.

The student was identified after a review of surveillance video and charged with possession with intent to sell and possession of marijuana police said. When he was confronted by the dean, the student took four bags of marijuana from his pants pocket, police said.

He was released to his mother's custody and is scheduled to appear in juvenile court Oct. 16.
