Twenty-eight musicians and vocalists from Fairfield's two public high schools have been named to all-state honors by a statewide music teachers' group.

The students were selected for all-state chorus, band or orchestra by the Connecticut Music Educators Association and performed in the group's All-State Music Festival in Hartford earlier this spring, according to the Fairfield Music Parents Association.

Sixteen Warde students were selected, including six for chorus, six for band and four for orchestra.

Twelve Ludlowe students were picked, including five for chorus, five for band and two for orchestra.

The students auditioned and were selected for a Western Regional Festival that took place in Darien in January. Students from four state regional festivals then were eligible to audition later in the winter for the all-state festival.
