Runoff from overnight rain has again prompted local health officials to prohibit swimming today at Lake Mohegan.
Swimming is banned because of potential for bacterial contamination in the fresh water lake from the heavy rainfall's runoff..
Similar concerns over water quality at the lake have cause swimming to be banned three times over the last week.
The town's five other Long Island Sound coastal beaches are open for swimming today.
Check back with the Fairfield Citizen for regular updates on water quality at local beaches.
