A free talk and demonstration on reflexology -- a type of therapy that may reduce stress and ease pain -- will be offered on Tuesday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at the Fairfield Senior Center.
The therapy involves putting pressure on areas of the feet, hands and ears, and it is generally relaxing, according to the Mayo Clinic website.
The theory behind it is that specific areas of the body correspond to one's organs and systems. Proponents believe that applying pressure to those areas affects the organs in a posaitive way, according to the website.
Linda Leson, a certified reflexologist, will talk about the therapy during the program and give demonstrations, the senior center said. Among the demontrations will be techniques that participants can use at home.
To reserve a seat for the program, call the center at 203-256-3166, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
