Reading expert Michael Sullivan will share strategies for closing the reading gap between girls and boys at a program on Thursday evening, March 28 at the Fairfield Public Library.

The free program is planned at 7 p.m. in the Rotary Room at the main branch, 1080 Old Post Road.

Author of the "Escapade Johnson" series for children as well as professional books for librarians and educators, Sullivan will discusss gender differences in learning and reading readiness, the library said in a news release.

He also will also suggest books boys like to read and give parents tips for encouraging a lifelong love of reading in their sons, the library said. The program is part of the library's Pathways to Parenting series.
