FAIRFIELD — Police investigating a report of an assault at a Reef Road party early Sunday morning Sept. 25 ended up charging a Bronx, N.Y., teen with possession of marijuana.

The tenant at the Reef Road home called police just before 3 a.m. He said a group of people had shown up at the house, and after being told they could not come into the party, began throwing beer bottles at the house. One of the beer bottles hit a party attendee in the head, causing a small laceration.

The four uninvited guests left, according to the report, but drove by as police were outside talking to the host. The host pointed out the car to police and it was stopped. A search of the car turned up 0.6 ounces of pot, and a rear seat passenger, later identified as Matthew Amore, 19, claimed it as his. He was charged with possession of more than a half-ounce of pot.

All four occupants denied being at the party.

Amore was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on Oct. 6 for the misdemeanor charge.
