A former manager in the pharmaceuticals field who served on several town government bodies has been named the new chief of staff for First Selectman Michael Tetreau.

Thomas Dubrosky, a former Police Commission chairman and Representative Town Meeting member from District 1, worked 42 years for pharmaceutical businesses, including 37 years at Boehringer Ingelheim Corp. in Ridgefield, according to the announcement from Tetreau's office.

The 43-year town resident was the first representative for Boehringer when it established itself in Connecticut, according to the announcement. He has experience in sales, sales management, marketing, trade distribution and training.

He replaces Robert Mayer, who had been acting chief of staff, and will now serve full time as the town's chief fiscal officer.

Dubroksy, a Democrat like Tetreau, will be paid $90,000.

"Tom brings the right mix of a strong managerial background coupled with a deep understanding of our community that will further strengthen the needs of our town and will also help the First Selectman's Office continue to provide quality service to our citizens," Tetreau said in a news release announcing the appointment.

Dubrosky is a combat veteran from the Vietnam War, and is an officer for the Fairfield County Veterans of Foreign Wars, commander of the VFW Post 399 in Westport and a member of American Legion Post 74 in Fairfield.

He served three terms on the RTM representing District 1, and during his tenure was a member of the RTM's Public Works and the Public Health and Safety committees. Later, he was appointed to Police Commission and served as that board's chairman.

Dubrosky is a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where he currently is an altar server. He previously was a coach and athletic director for Fairfield Pop Warner. He is the father of two daughters and has four grandchildren, who live in Fairfield.
