About $600 worth of lace panties and thongs was reported stolen from Victoria's Secret, 1499 Post Road, on Thursday afternoon, but the thief was undetected.
The manager of the downtown lingerie shop called police shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday when she noticed that nearly all the merchandise on a display table had been stolen.
She told police that during that time her attention was diverted as she helped out at the cash register, while another employee was on a break and a third was at the back of the store accepting a delivery of new merchandise.
After finishing up at the register, the manager said, she noticed the large amount of underwear was missing. She estimated the theft took place about 15 minutes prior to her call to police.
No suspect was seen fleeing the store.
