Feeling short on holiday spirit? There's plenty to do this weekend in Fairfield to help address that festivity deficit and here's a few suggestions:

Jazz up your weekend by taking in "A Very New Orleans Christmas" with pianist Ellis Marsalis at 8 p.m. Friday at Fairfield University's Quick Center, 1073 North Benson Road. Tickets are $25-$45. Call 203-254-4010 or visit www.quickcenter.com.

Santa Claus is coming to town for the weekend, and taking up residence in Fairfield's historic Burr Homestead. Join him and the Mrs. at the annual "A Visit to Santa's House," sponsored by the Fairfield Junior Woman's Club, takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the mansion, 739 Old Post Road. Take a photo with Santa or share cookies with Mrs. Claus. Admission is $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Proceeds benefit the Thomas Merton Center and the Fairfield Storm Sandy Relief Fund. For more information visit www.jwcfairfield.com

Saturday morning is for the birds -- at least at Connecticut Audubon's Fairfield Center -- where you can get a free introduction to backyard birding at 10 a.m., followed by a walk through the sanctuary. Donations, however, will be accepted. Call 203-259-6305, ext. 109, or visit www.ctaudubon.org

If birdhouses aren't your thing, maybe candy houses are. The Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Road, will host workshops on how to make candy houses Saturday at 10 a.m. and noon. The cost is $10 per member and $15 per non-members for the first house and $8 and $10 for each additional house. Pre-registration is required. Call 203-259-1598 or visit www.fairfieldhistory.org

On Saturday, put some green in the holiday season -- of the Irish sort -- by attending Sacred Heart University's "An Irish Christmas." Held at SHU's Edgerton Center, 5151 Park Ave., the performance starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $10-$25. Visit www.edgertoncenter.org or call 203-371-7908.
