Santa Claus is coming to town and, as usual, plans to take up residence in the Burr Homestead this weekend before he hits the road for his all-important Christmas Eve travels.

For the 29th year, the Junior Women's Club of Fairfield will host Santa at the historic mansion, 739 Old Post Road, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"A Visit to Santa's House" is a major fundraiser for the club, which this year will devote proceeds to JWC Girls Zone at the Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport.

Volunteers helping the club create this Christmas fantasy land for children include the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club's Keystone and Torch clubs, area Scout troops and students from several local religious education classes.

In addition to visiting with Santa Claus and his Mrs., the event this year includes new features, including a room devoted to the popular movie, "Frozen," and a Polar Express theme in the Model Train Room.

The annual Candy Guess content features a new prize: a two-scoop sundae every week for a year at Saugatuck Sweets in Westport.

The Junior Women's Club will also decorate a Community Tree, featuring customized ornaments dedicated to the businesses, volunteer groups and families who support A Visit to Santa's House.

As usual there will be seasonal crafts and live entertainment throughout the two-day event.

"Santa's Salon" is also back, featuring face- and nail-painting and temporary tattoos, courtesy of the Fairfield Ludlowe High School cheerleading squad.

Guests of all ages can test their luck in the raffle room with prizes at stake, or enjoy homemade treats at the Gourmet Bake Shop.

Advance tickets to A Visit to Santa's House are $5 for adults and children ages 2 and up. They may be purchased at Chloe's Closet, the Edge Fitness Club of Fairfield, Giant Steps Toy Store, Hobbytown USA, Yellow Moon Toy Co. and from JWC members. Tickets at the door are $7.
