Rain has forced Fairfield Museum and History Center to postpone its old-fashioned picnic and Town Ball Game (different from baseball) from tonight to Wednesday, Aug. 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The game, organized by Central Connecticut State University Historian and Town Ball buff Bruce Reinholdt, will be a casual game with no foul territory. All struck balls are played and as many as 30 people can be part of the game.

The museum is located at 370 Beach Road in Fairfield. Check the website, www.fairfieldhs.org for additional information. Reservations are not necessary and the museum and gift shop will be open during that evening for "It's a Hit! A Hometown View of Our National Pastime," Connecticut baseball history exhibition. There will be no admission charge.
