The Lions Gate Trio will perform a chamber concert, highlighting works by Franz Schubert on Sunday at the Fairfield Public Library.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. in the Memorial Room of the library, corner of Old Post and Post roads. The performance is one in the “Soundwaves” concert series supported by the Friends of the Fairfield Public Library.

A reception will follow the performance at which those in the audience will have a chance to meet the musicians. Light refreshments will be served.

Registration for the free program is requested because of limited seating.

Schubert wrote more than a thousand works, encompassing styles that ranged from Classicism to Romanticism.

Musicians in the Lions Gate Trio include Darrett Adkins, cello; Katie Lansdale, violin and Florence Millet, piano, while Peter Alexander is the musical director. With individual faculty positions in Cologne, New York and Hartford, the trio has also served residencies at Tanglewood, Yale University and the University of Pittsburgh.

The Lions Gate Trio will return to the library on Dec. 6 with two performances — one for a young audience and one for adults. Both performances will feature the works of Beethoven, Ravel and Kolomiietz.
