A Whole Foods Market employee has been charged with stealing about two cases of beer per week over the past several months, according to police.

A loss-prevention manager at the store in the Kings Crossing shopping center contacted police after Kevin Patterson, 22, of Franklin Avenue in Derby, was captured on surveillance video taking beer and putting it outside behind the Grasmere Avenue store, police said.

During his work break, Patterson would then retrieve the beer and put it in the trunk of his car, police said.

The store estimates Patterson stole $1,200 worth of beer. He was charged Thursday with fourth-degree larceny.
