Two people were taken to area hospitals after a two-car accident this morning on North Benson Road, just north of the main entrance to Fairfield University.

Police said a student headed south on North Benson Road to the campus just before 8 a.m. crossed over the double-yellow traffic line, and his Hyundai sedan hit a northbound Honda Pilot.

The Hyundai became airborne, struck a tree and rolled over before coming to rest on all four tires again.

The operators of both cars were taken for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A portion of the road was closed to traffic in both directions.

The accident remains under investigation.
