Two elderly women were extricated from a car that was sideswiped by a heavy-duty dump truck in a three-car accident Friday morning, near the busy intersection of Black Rock Turnpike and Stillson Road.

Both were taken by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The dump truck, owned by F.M. Bonaddio Construction of Norwalk, was traveling north in the left-hand lane of Black Rock Turnpike about 10:50 a.m., police said. The truck driver was unable to stop in time when a Porsche SUV in front of him stopped to make a left-hand turn into a shopping center.

The dump truck hit the rear of the SUV before moving into the right-hand lane, hitting a Volvo and spinning it around, police said. The force of the crash pushed the Volvo another 80 feet, according to the report.

The two women in the Volvo were extricated by firefighters.
