The well-attended Music for Youth program -- over 200 came out to Pequot Library to hear the December concert featuring Hot Club of Detroit -- has announced its first program for 2014, a performance by violinist Bella Hristova. The program will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Pequot Library.
The 28-year-old violinist has won numerous accolades, including an Avery Fisher Career Grant this year and first prize in two prestigious international violin competitions.
She has appeared throughout the U.S. and overseas as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra guest artist. She plays on a 1655 Nicolo Amati violin.
The 50-minute concert at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Southport, is geared for ages 5 to 18. The concert is free for families with children. Adults without children are asked to make a goodwill donation. No tickets or registration are required.
