Virginia A. Bensey

Born in Westport, she was a lifelong Fairfield resident and graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School. She worked as a private caregiver many years before joining Perkin-Elmer, where she retired as the supervisor of drawing control. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she served as a eucharistic minister. She was also the recipient of the St. Augustine Medal of Service for her service to the church. Her activities included gardening, swimming at the YMCA and early-morning walks through the neighborhood.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah A. Bennett and her husband, Linn, of Palm City, Fla.; Nancy Finch of Southbury, and Barbara Stone and her husband, Steve, of Newtown; two grandchildren, Kevin Finch of Torrington and Zachary Stone of Newtown, as well as her nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
