With burgeoning membership at the town’s Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, there is a need for more volunteers.
There are now 2,200 senior center members, according to Terry Giegengack, the town’s director of human and social services, volunteers are needed to help with the growing number of programs and activities.
There is a particularly urgent need for volunteers help with the daily lunches served at the center, according to Cathy Rotanz, the volunteer coordinator. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, with food service helpers needed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to assist with set up, serving the meals and clearing the tables.
The center typically has about 19 tables set in the dining hall each day, according to Rotanz, and an average of 40 to 50 meals are served daily.
Prospective volunteers could contact Rotanz at 203-256-3166.
