The headmaster of Fairfield Warde High School has been honored by the Connecticut Parent-Teachers Association.
James Coyne is scheduled to be named "Connecticut PTA High School Principal of the Year" today at the association's annual statewide awards ceremony, according to a Fairfield PTA news release issued Tuesday night.
Coyne was nominated by the Fairfield Warde PTA's executive board.
"Every time Jim Coyne speaks to a school audience, he defines Warde's acronyn -- welcoming, academic, respectful, dynamic and ethical, by always establishing an atmosphere of accessibility and welcome," Catherine Giff, Fairfield PTA president, said in a statement. "Mr. Coyne demonstrates the importance of parent involvement as he is visible and approachable at major parents events each year, especially the Parent-Student Orientation Visit for incoming ninth-graders and the annual open house."
Coyne serves on the Fairfield PTA Council's Award Committee, which has provided an opportunity for others to observe his support of and dedication to teachers across the district, the release states.
Each year, the statewide association recognizes one superintendent and one principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels who demonstrate the importance of parent involvement in their schools, the release states.
