A Hartford woman was charged on a warrant Sunday in the aftermath of a local car crash in August.
Blessing Smith, 24, of Vine Street in Hartford, was charged with operating under the influence, reckless driving and driving without a license.
According to police, Smith hit another car on Congress Street while being pursued by Trumbull police, a chase that started at the Westfield Trumbull Mall. Smith was suspected of shoplifting, and when police tried to stop her, she drove off and hit a Trumbull officer with her car, injuring the officer’s hand, according to police.
Fairfield police received numerous 911 calls about a reckless driver, as well as a broadcast from Trumbull about the pursuit. When the car Smith was driving crashed on Congress Street, she was taken into custody by Trumbull police.
Smith turned herself in at police headquarters and was held on a $10,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear Oct. 26 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
