A 28-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after police said she punched a waitress in the face at Andros Diner on Villa Avenue.
Carla Michelle Soto, of Linen Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace.
Police said Soto was sitting in the diner with relatives about 1:58 p.m. Sunday when they began arguing over child care and custody issues. The argument became "very loud" and another customer asked that they please be quiet because they were disturbing everyone in the diner, according to the report.
Diner employees then approached the table and asked them to calm down, but a fight broke out, police said.
When Soto was asked to calm down, she "began throwing punches and scratching," according to the report.
A 35-year-old waitress suffered a bruise by her left eye and scratches on the right side of her neck, police said.
AMR Ambulance Co. arrived at the diner, but the waitress who was injured declined to be taken to the hospital, police said. Soto, who alleged that wait staff held her down and punched her, complained of neck and foot pain and was taken by AMR to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, police said. Arriving officers found Soto in the parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts across the street, police said.
She was released after posting $200 bond and was scheduled to appear Aug. 13 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
