A Knapps Highway woman was charged Monday with assaulting her boyfriend, who has a protective order in place against her, according to police.

Damarisa Lopez-Sosa, 25, faces charges of third-degree assault, breach of peace and violation of a protective order.

An officer on patrol spotted two people fighting on a Black Rock Turnpike sidewalk about 6 p.m. Monday.

The boyfriend said he had been at Lopez-Sosa's house when they began to argue and he left, according to the report. He was walking on Black Rock Turnpike, he said, when police said Lopez-Sosa, who is eight months pregnant, showed up in her car.

He claimed that she knocked him to the ground and began punching him in the head. She allegedly told police he fell, and then she jumped on him and began hitting him. According to the report, Lopez-Sosa said they were arguing because the boyfriend had impregnated another woman.

Lopez-Sosa was released on a promise to appear the next day at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
