An anonymous phone call Thursday morning led police to a Grandview Road apartment where officers said they found a 7-year-old boy home alone.

Police charged the boy's mother, Alyssa P. Sirichantho, 40, with risk of injury to a minor when she returned home from the gym, and reported the incident to the state Department of Children and Families.

According to the report, a woman caller to police said the boy was left home alone for several hours a day several times a week. When officers got to the apartment, the boy refused to open the door and said his mother was at the gym. They asked him to call his mother, which he did, but he told police after he hung up that she was not coming home.

Sirichantho, however, arrived at the apartment shortly after the phone call. Police said she at first denied being at the gym, but later admitted that she had been there.

She was released on a promise to appear June 23 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
