A Milford woman was charged last Friday with trespassing at the Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road, after having been warned previously to stay away from the store, police said.
Joan L. Sargent, 53, of Home Acre Avenue, Milford, had been told last year not to return to the book store after she allegedly made obscene gestures and comments toward employees and patrons.
Sargent, however, returned to the store Friday evening, police said, and was found by officers on the second floor. She then started an argument with officers, telling them they were "rent a cops" and had nothing better to do than bother her, according to the report.
Sargent was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and released on a promise to appear Nov. 14 at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
Police warned Sargent again that she is not to step foot in the book store.
