A new grocery store, called “bfresh,” has opened at the retail complex developed on the site of the former U.S. Post Office downtown.

The store at 1262 Post Road, next to the new Plan B Burger restaurant, will have an inaugural ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Friday. It is one of the first locations in a new chain of markets unveiled by Ahold USA, based in the Netherlands, which is also the parent company of supermarket giant, Stop & Shop.

As a promotion, the first 50 customers when the store opens at 7 a.m. each day through Nov. 12 will receive a free item, such as hand-kneaded bread, a dozen eggs and organic bananas.

The 8,600-square-foot market features fresh produce, meat and seafood, as well as organic and specialty foods, according to publicity from the business.

It also features bulk purchase of spices and other foods, a deli, bakery and coffee counter.

The bfresh Little Kitchen will prepare “from-scratch” meals, including pasta and Asian stir fry dishes, grilled and rotisserie foods, pizza, sandwiches, fresh-pressed juices, baked goods and dessert items.
