CONCORD, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts caregiver has been charged with raping a disabled woman in her room at a residential facility.
The Middlesex district attorney's office says Titus Shungwa was released on $5,000 bail Friday after his arraignment in Concord District Court.
Prosecutors allege the 40-year-old Lynn resident entered the victim's room in the Lexington facility after she went to bed and assaulted her. They say the partially disabled woman reported the alleged assault and identified Shungwa as her assailant.
Prosecutors say Shungwa's DNA was found on the woman.
WFXT-TV reports that neither Shungwa's attorney nor prosecutors would give the name of the facility where the alleged assault occurred.
Shungwa's family called the allegations "lies" and says he's innocent.
