Foundation gives over $258,000 in Fairfield

The Fairfield County Community Foundation said it awarded more than $235,000 in grants to seven nonprofit organizations in Fairfield during its last fiscal year. It also said that it awarded 12 scholarships to Fairfield students totaling more than $23,000.

Assistance to the nonprofit groups were in the form of 32 separate grants, the Norwalk-based philanthropic foundation said in a news release.

Fairfield nonprofits receiving grants included the High School Scholarship Foundation of Fairfield, Pequot Library, ITN Coastal Connecticut, Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, Horizons at Sacred Heart University, Operation Hope and Fairfield University.

Across the county, the Fairfield County Community Foundation and its donors awarded more than 1,100 grants and 311 scholarships, totaling $17.3 million during the year.
