The Fairfield Ludlowe girls lacrosse team is finally catching a groove.

Eleven different Falcons scored goals, as Ludlowe pummeled Brien McMahon 20-7 on Tuesday night at Taft Field.

Ludlowe won for the third straight time after starting the year 0-2.

"It's been a slow start," Ludlowe coach Amy Alvord said. "There were a couple of games that we were disappointing."

Sarah Nesi scored two goals and had four assists, Kendall Stevenson scored four goals and Mary Deliberti scored three goals for the Falcons.

"They're progressing," Alvord said. "We had a rocky start."

Devon Machette scored all seven goals for the Senators. McMahon fell to 0-5 on the year.

Deliberti and Stevenson combined for Ludlowe's first five goals, as the Falcons opened up a 5-0 lead in the first 8:01 of the game. Ludlowe held a 14-4 advantage at halftime.

Alvord was more pleased by her team's ability to play team lacrosse. The Falcons recorded assists on 12 of the team's 20 goals. Stevenson, Julia Tomeo and Brittany Rosenfeld each added a pair of assists.

"Our connections have picked up on the field," Nesi said. "The more that everyone gets involved, the better we play."

"We've been working to get a few more assists in the books," Alvord said.

Ashley Kirby added three goals, KC McAuliffe scored twice and Emily Donovan, Meredith Petralia, Sophie Butcher, Bryce McLure, Lizzie Pratt all added single goals as well for the Falcons. McAuliffe and Pratt each added assists as well.

"We're good at encouraging each other," Donovan said.

Jill Moffett stopped seven shots for Ludlowe in the first half, Charlotte O'Donnell entered in the second, and stopped two shots for Ludlowe.

For Ludlowe, in defense of its 2010 state championship, an 0-2 start was less than noteworthy. However, the Falcons have now ripped off three straight wins, entering last night's rematch with the Senators, which was completed too late for press time.

"We've had a bad couple of first games," Donovan said. "But we picked up our intensity."

Ludlowe will take on undefeated Ridgefield tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at Taft Field.
