St. Joseph 47, Warde 27 (Nov. 8)
Big plays allowed: The Cadets capitalized on two pivotal plays. A fumble on a Warde kickoff return was recoverd by St. Joe's and returned for a touchdown. A fourth-and-2 for St. Joe's at the Mustangs' 10 yard line was converted and tested Warde's resiliency. "Without five big plays, it would have come down to who had the ball last with a top ten team in the state," said Warde coach Duncan DellaVolpe.
Offense strikes: Brandon Bisack surpassed 250 yards passing for Warde, connecting on scoring passes to Ryan Brown and Brian Kerrigan. Julius Langs Jones, a junior, scored on a gritty run of more than 10 yards.
Tough schedule: "Our schedule is the fourth toughest in the state," DellaVolpe said, "and some wear and tear has plagued us, contributing to another tough loss." The combined record of the Mustangs opponents is 57-41.
Next game: Fairfield Warde (2-7) at Bassick (2-7) on Friday at 7 p.m. in an FCIAC East game.
