Greenwich Skate Park
The Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation has opened the Greenwich Skatepark. The park will be open on weekends from 12:30 to 6 p.m., and on weekdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The Greenwich Skatepark is a fun, safe, supervised park for youths 6 years of age and up to Skateboard and inline skate. The fifth annual Stamford Kids In Crisis (KIC) IT Triathlon is set for Sunday July 1 at Columbus Park. The 2nd annual Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon is set for Sat June 30 at 7:30 a.m. The Kids Triathlon features kids ages 7-10 completing a 50-meter swim, a 2-mile bike course and a half-mile run. Kids ages 11-13 will then participate in a 150-meter swim, 4-mile bike race and one mile run. The Stamford KIC IT Triathlon, which supports the Kids in Crisis agency, features a 9/10 mile swim at Cummings Beach, a 24.8 mile bike ride and a 6.2 mile run. The race had 540 participants in 2011. Chris Thomas, named 2011 male triathlete of the year by Timex and USA Triathlon Amateur Athlete of the year in 2009, will join forces with basketball great Allan Houston, Gov. The US Open National Playoffs return for a third season with the New England sectional at the Yale University Tennis Center June 14-17. Long Ridge Swim and Tennis Club, located in Stamford at 2517 Long Ridge Road, has new management and lower membership rates than last year for their upcoming season, which is now open for registration.
