Brunswick's Head Coach Joe Falco gave his Varsity Eight a few final words before they launched their shell for the last race of the fall season.

Falco told them that there are a special few moments in their athletic careers when they will have a great opportunity right in front of them and to seize such a moment. Brunswick was able to do just that in the finals of the Bill Braxton Memorial Regatta on Sunday.

Brunswick came from behind to pass and eventually hold off a strong boat from Princeton National Rowing Association/Mercer Juniors.

The Bruins held on to win by less than three tenths of a second. In the final sprint, Brunswick's senior strokeman Matt Podlesak took the cadence up to 44 strokes per minute and the boat crossed the finish line in a time of 4:34.06 just ahead of PNRA/Mercer's 4:34.34 over the 1500m course.

This annual end to the fall crew season is held on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J., where the collegiate national championships are often contested.

Brunswick's senior-laden line-up includes: three-year varsity coxswain Tobin Saer (senior), Podlesak (senior / co-captain), John Mayberry (senior), Alec Durkin (senior), Max Skolds (junior), Sean Forester (senior / co-captain), Corey Juan (senior), Jamie Knox (senior) & Will Bass (freshman).
