The Brunswick School hockey team used a dominant third period to post a resounding 4-0 victory over Belmont Hill School Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Nichols School/Belmont Hill Tournament in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Bruins scored four third-period goals, three of which came on the power play, against Belmont Hill, which entered the game as the No. 1-ranked team in New England.

With the win, Brunswick earned a spot in Sunday morning's semifinals. Senior Harry Clifford scored the go-ahead goal 1:20 into the third period and sophomore Michael Faulkner followed with a power play goal at the 6:39 mark, giving the Bruins a 2-0 lead.

Senior co-captain Peter Khoury scored a power play goal 11:41 into the third and sophomore Nick Jermain added an empty-netter with 27 seconds remaining. Jermain also had two assists for Brunswick, which received 30 saves from senior goalie Gryphon Richardson, who registered his third shutout of the season.

The triumph was a big one for the Bruins, who bounced back nicely from a 5-1 loss to Millbrook School Saturday morning. Junior Stephan Seeger had the lone goal for Brunswick, which is 3-1 in the tourney.
