The Fairfield Wildcats eighth-grade team opened the season Sept. 8 with 6-0 win against Darien Blue.
With time running out in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats' offense struck. Timmy Jacobi plowed his way for a run deep into Darien territory. This was followed by the line clearing a lane for Jack Curtis to bulldoze his way into the end zone.
The Wildcats will host Wilton on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe.
The Wildcats black squad earned a 28-6 win at Westport North.
Opening the scoring for the season was Brain Howell who turned in a solid performance on both sides of the ball. Dylan Beck caught a pass from quarterback David Summers for a two-point conversion, and Will Richards converted on a two-pointer. Aidan Kilgallon, Justin Coudert and Jesse Lawson helped the Wildcats with strong performances.
The Wildcats sixth-graders dropped their season opener at Wilton 21-0 on Sept. 8. Despite giving up some long scores, the defense was stout at times with Evan Rose and Ryan Lawrence recorded numerous tackles for loss. Linebacker Griffin Gallati made some big hits.
The Wildcats fifth-grade team beat Westport 14-0 on Sept. 7.
Running-back Lorenzo Cooper ran for more 100 yards and scored two touchdowns behind the blocking of guard Jack McKenna and center James Cullinan. Quarterback Andrew Conklin converted a two-pointer to tight end Dylan Igram. Linebackers Ryan McIntosh and Jack Gremses and dornerback Aiden Casey led the defense.
The Wildcats' home opener will be against Wilton Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Ludlowe.
The Wildcats fourth-grade blue opened the season with a 27-6 victory at Westport.
The Wildcat offense needed two plays for Ryan O'Connell to scamper 55 yards for a touchdown. On the next series, Tyler Hibbard put the Wildcats up by 14 points with a 50-yard run for his first of two scores in the game.
Other strong performances included Ronan O'Donnell, also a linebacker, with a 5-yard TD run. Zach Hathaway played well at outside linebacker, as did John Moore. Lucca Iononne scored on a quarterback bootleg.
