Fairfield Wildcats report: Seventh Graders Shut Out Westport 15-0

The seventh grade team advanced in the Fairfield County Football League playoffs with a 15-0 shutout over Westport Saturday night. The Wildcat defense dominated, recording its fifth shutout of the season. Fairfield did not allow a first down.

The defense also opened the scoring with a safety as Josh Evans and Jack Curtis tackled a Westport runner in the end zone.

On offense Fairfield's running game continued to roll. Strong runs by Jack Curtis and Timmy Jacobi led to a QB sneak for a touchdown by Matthew Cerminaro Jack Curtis' conversion lifted Fairfield's advantage score to 9-0.

An interception and 30-yard return by Clay Zachery set up a 13-yard touchdown run by Jacobi.

Fourth grade fFalls to New Canaan

The fourth grade team lost Saturday night to New Canaan White, 20-0.

The Wildcat defense played tough all game with excellent tackling from Jimmy Cullinan, Brendan Howard and Jack Morison.

Sixth grade advances to semifinals

The sixth grade team avenged a Week 8 defeat to advance to the semifinals, 8-6, over New Canaan Red.

Fairfield's offense churned out first downs behind the running of Kevin Quinn, Brian Howell, and Brendan Larson.

Fairfield's lone score came on a combined effort of two offensive units driving the ball 70 yards. The final 35 came on Howell's scamper. Howell then went five yards for the two-point conversion, by faking a reverse to Aiden Wykoff.

The visitors converted on a third-quarter trip to the red zone on sharp passing from their talented quarterback.

The Fairfield defense -- led by Jaden Sneed, Danny Russel, PJ Egan, Sean Fuller -- closed the door the rest of the way.
