Eighth-Grade Blue beats Westport

The Fairfield Wildcats Eighth-Grade Blue team knocked off Westport Wreckers North Team 12-6 on Saturday. The Wildcats scored the first half's only points on Danny King's 22-yard touchdown run.

The following Westport drive, cornerback Tyler Petry intercepted a pass, keeping Fairfield's advantage 6-0.

Running back Ross Gallace muscled his way down the right sideline for a 15-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown. Gallace had 47 yards total behind massive lead blocks from fullback Alexei Alatakis, who had 46 yards rushing himself.

Seventh-Grade wins opener against Norwalk

The Seventh-Grade Wildcats began the defense of their 2011 Championship with a decisive 24-6 victory over Norwalk. The Wildcats offense controlled the line of scrimmage behind Josh Evans, Clay Zachery, Joey Turner, Jack Kovaleski and Chris Nielsen which resulted in rushing touchdowns by Jack Curtis, Matthew Cerminaro and Timmy Jacobi.

The Wildcats defense held Norwalk in check all game and even scored on John Blumenthal's 25 yard interception returned. The Wildcats take on Wilton next Sunday at 11 a.m. at Fairfield Warde High School.

Fifth-Grade

defeats Norwalk

The Wildcats fifth-graders won their season debut 27-7 over the Norwalk Grizzlies at Norwalk High School. Quarterback Joey Gulbin hit split end Brodie Hopkinson on a 70 yard touchdown strike on the second play from scrimmage and the offense continued to

execute effectively, delivering long, first-half touchdown runs by tailbacks Ryan Janz and Ryan Lawrence.

Fourth-Grade

falls to New Canaan

Fairfield Wildcats fourth-grade lost 14-7 to New Canaan White. Wildcats running back Lorenzo Cooper ran for more than 80 yards in total for the day and scored the game's first touchdown and running back Ryan McIntosh ran for the extra point.

Fairfield will look to bounce back against Darien Sunday at Warde High School at 9:30 a.m.

Third Grade Black loses opener

The Wildcats' third grade team fell 19-13 to New Canaan Red.

With the Wildcats trailing 13-0, third-grade quarterback Harrison Keith broke an 80 yard run then connected with Farid Sahagun for the extra point.
