Bulldogs 18, Generals 6
Drew Sheehan scrampered for a 60-yard touchdown run, Logan Galletta broke free for a 50-yard TD run and William Montesi capped the Bulldog scoring with a 15-yard run to help build an 18-0 lead before the Generals scored the game's final touchdown on a fake reverse.
Jonathan Doyle, Mathew Chioditti and Julian Chudy provided timely blocks on Sheehan's TD. The Generals' attempt to battle back offensively was stopped by the defensive play of middle linebackers TJ Abbazia and Casey Rozmus and defensive linemen Rees Abbett, Peter Benda, Connor Sobieri, Chris Tella and Montesi.
Solid running by Jacob Mondschein and Auggie Bancroft preceded Galletta's scoring.
Tighe Cummiskey, Luke Ware and Pierson Delcrist ran well before Montesi's 50-yard run set up the final score.
Gators 30, Crushers 18
The Riverside Gators took control in the second half after trailing 12-8. Garrett Murphy, who threw a 12-yard TD pass to Evan Weigold in the first half, set up the Gators with a 45-yard game behind the blocking of Matthew Pilc. Jack Feda finished the drive with a 6-yard TD run for the lead. The defense of Tommy Waurishuk and Alex Hanna preceded Andrew Nanai's QB sack, giving the ball back to the Gators. Cory Johnsonn quickly capitalized, running 22 yards for a TD. The Gator defense forced a punt, which Johnson returned 55 yards for a TD.
The Crushers' first TD culminated a 14-play, 75-yard drive. Runs by Jose Riera and Miles Recchia for 19 and 14 yards, respectively, pushed the Crushers into Gator territory. QB Fin Signer's 28-yard pass to Mitchell Grimes put the Crushers on the 9-yard line, leading to Riera 1-yard TD run.
Tyler Dietrich's 39-yard punt return to the Gator 16 set up Recchia's 10-yard TD run behind the blocking of Jack McBreairty, Nolan Connerty, Jesse Barber and Eli Fowler for a 12-8 Crusher lead. Recchia's 8-yard run, set up by a 24-yard Signer-to-Grimes pass, capped the Crusher scoring. Nick Winegardner, Will Jones, Jack Spurlock and Vincent Ceci played well on defense for the Crusher defense while Jack Durvasula, Adam Morris and Carl Cummings contributed strong line play.
Gators 26 , Bulldogs 19
Anthony Ferraro's 22-yard TD pass to WR Patrick McTiernan with 9.2. seconds left in the game gave the Gators their victory. Ferraro's 48-yard run, behind blocks by Connor Weigold and Paul Williams set up the score. Ferraro ran for the Gators' other three TDs: 28 yards on a fake reverse behind the blocking of Kevin Jordan and Peyton Larkin; 25 yards behind the blocking of Chris D'Arminio, Will Perlman and Alex Nanai; and 1 yard, which was set up by Cassius Johnson's interception and 17-yard return. The Gator defense was led by Kevin Wright, Ferraro, s Johnson, Williams and Nathaniel Steen, who combined for 28 tackles.
Kevin Iobbi led the Bulldogs with 94 yards and two TDs on 17 carries. Nick Blum completed four passes for 80 yards. Danny Ezquivel led the defense with 10 tackles, but it was Doyle who was the standout with seven tackles and two interceptions, returning one 91 yards for a TD. Robert Clark had the third interception. Nick Nelson, Alex Bologna and Blum each made two tackles,
Doyle's second interception set up North Mianus at the Riverside 36. Blum hit Iobbi for 14 yards and Iobbi eventually scored from 4 yards out. Late in the fourth quarter, Iobbi, substituting for the injured Blum, carried the ball on seven consecutive plays, including runs of 19, 12 and 23 yards, the last of which accounted for his second touchdown, which tied the game.
