Local girls on All-Region team
Local players on state youth team
Two 8th grade boys from Greenwich, Anthony Ferraro and Tyler Farris, are on a quest to get to the AlamoDome in San Antonio, Texas to play for the Football University (FBU) Championship Game on Jan. 4.
The boys are part of a 29 player Elite 8th grade team from all over Connecticut. FBU has hand-picked these athletes to represent Connecticut-South in the "Road to the Dome" Tournament. The Motto of FBU is "By Position. By Professionals. By Invitation-Only!"
Ferraro plays for the Riverside Gators and Tyler Farris plays for BANC Raiders in the GYFL (Greenwich Youth Football League).
Three players from Stamford, John Michael Bivona and Lexie Burke, who play for Rippowam, and Cameron Kelly who plays for Trinity Catholic in the Stamford Youth Foundation Middle School League are also with the team.
Other area players on the team are Tyrell Diaz, Stamford; Cortlyn Victrum and Deandre Russell of Norwalk; Louis Colsimo, Nick Roehm and Ryan Fitton of Westport; Zach Spencer, Weston; and Grant Carnemark, Fairfield.
In the recent Sectionals Connecticut South defeated New York by a score of 35-6 and in the second round Team Connecticut blanked Long Island, 28-0, to advance to the semifinal round in Columbus, Ohio.
Local squash players at Hamilton
Amanda Thorman (Greenwich Academy), Lindsay Arada (Stamford/Greenwich Academy), Annabel Prouty (Greenwich/Deerfield) and Alyssa Kasanoff (Westport/Miss Porter School) all had wins as the 16th ranked Hamilton women's squash team defeated Colgate.
Outlaws schedule tryouts
Greenwich Outlaws 13U travel team will hold tryouts Wednesday Dec. 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Pro-Swing in Port Chester, NY. There is a $20 fee. The team will participate in the NY Elite Baseball League in the Spring/Summer season for 2013. Make inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
YMCA of Greenwich to host program
The program, designed for children to learn about and play hockey, will run through Jan. 31, 2013 with one 60 minute game or skills session each week in the YMCA of Greenwich's gymnasium.
