College notebook:

NESCAC All-Academic

Several Greenwich athletes earned Fall New England Small College Athletic Conference All Academic honors. They were:

Amherst: Sarah Chapman, Greenwich Academy, field hockey; Hamilton: Katey Hopper, Greenwich, field hockey; Middlebury: Diedre Miller, Convent of Sacred Heart, field hockey; Wesleyan: Kate Centofanti, Greeenwich, volleyball; and Williams: Casey Greene, Greenwich Academy, field hockey.

Local athletes

Megan Jarchow (Convent of Sacred Heart) was an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region selection and was also selected as an honorable mention All-American .The junior was also named to the NESCAC women's volleyball team for the second time. The outside hitter, has 997 career kills.

Freshman Faranz Khan (Greenwich) has a 6-1 record with the fifth-ranked Rochester men's squash team.

Sam Ezratty (Greenwich/Hackley) is a member of the top-ranked Princeton men's lacrosse squad.

Freshman Michael Petrick (Brunswick) allowed only seven points and won at No. 7 as the Williams men's squash team defeated Hamilton.

Lesea Bourke (Greenwich/Kent) picked up wins against Tufts, Bucknell and George Washington with the Bates women's squash team.

Alexa Pujol (Greenwich Academy) has a 2-1-2 record in goal and has allowed eight goals while facing 146 shots with the Trinity women's hockey team.

Ollie Ko (Greenwich/Hackley) has six goals and five assists with the Bowdoin men's hockey team (9-0-1).

Nick Trepp (Brunswick) has collected a goal and an assist with the Colby hockey team (2-7).

Emily Jensen (Greenwich/Suffield) of Trinity won first place in the 100 freestyle competing against Mount Holyoke and Bates.

Eric Kremeller (Greenwich) had a 5-5 record during the fall tennis season with the Fairfield men while Monica Yajima (Greenwich) was 5-5 with Fairfield's women's team.

Street hockey:

YMCA of Greenwich to host program

A popular street hockey program sponsored by NHL New York Rangers will be coming to The YMCA of Greenwich this winter.

The program, designed for children to learn about and play hockey, will run through Jan. 31, 2013 with one 60 minute game or skills session each week in the YMCA of Greenwich's gymnasium.

Baseball tryouts:

Ct Blue Thunder 12U AAU travel baseball team holding tryouts in January 2013.
