Hurricane Sandy alters high school sports schedule

The following changes to the high school sports schedule have been made due to Hurricane Sandy:
-The CIAC has created a revised schedule for the 2012 fall tournaments. The final day for regular season games to count will be Tuesday with teams having the option to play games Sunday if the games are played after 12:30 p.m. With the revised schedule, tournament competition will begin on Thursday, Nov. 8.
Championship contests for volleyball and field hockey will be played the weekend of November 16-17. Finals for boys and girls soccer will be played the weekend of November 23-24.
-Fairfield Prep's SCC tournament semifinal game against Xavier -- originally scheduled for Thursday -- will now be Saturday at Alumni Field at 10 a.m. The winner will play Guilford, Amity or Branford on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at West Haven High School.
-The quarterfinals of the FCIAC girls volleyball tournament have been moved to Tuesday. No. 2 Ludlowe will host seventh-seeded Westhill at TBA. The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, with the two winners declared co-champions.
-The FCIAC girls swimming finals have been moved to Nov. 6 at Greenwich High School (time to be announced). The FCIAC swimming trials have been canceled. The diving finals are rescheduled for Nov. 6 at Westhill High School.
-The Fairfield Warde home football game against Staples -- previously scheduled for Friday -- has been rescheduled for Nov. 8 (time to be announced). Fairfield Ludlowe's home football game against Danbury will also be that day.
-The rest of Week 9 FCIAC football games -- including Warde at Wilton and Ludlowe vs. Norwalk -- have been rescheduled for Nov. 13.
-Notre Dame-Fairfield's football game against Bethel -- previously scheduled for Sunday at 5 p.m. -- will now be either Nov. 15 or 16.
-Fairfield Prep's football game against Branford-- previously scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.-- is now Thursday, Nov. 15 at TBA.
