Athletes and coaches from three of the town's four boys high school lacrosse teams received post-season honors on the state and national level. A Fairfield Prep midfielder who was named the SCC's player of the year earned All-America recognition. A head coach, assistant coach and freshman coach each collected statewide awards.

Jesuits' senior Austin Sims, who will play at Princeton next year, was one of 18 state players to make All-America, five of whom are from CIAC Class M champion Darien with four from Class L champion Greenwich.

Fairfield Ludlowe coach Chris Parisi was named Man of the Year for his work in the annual Sticks for Soldiers benefit jamboree in the preseason. Fairfield Warde assistant coach Brian DePodesta earned Assistant Coach of the Year in Class L. Prep freshman coach Howard Benedict, who started the team at New Canaan in 1974 and won many state championships with the Rams, received the Frank Barron Lifetime Achievement Award.

Three Prep players were selected Class L first-team All-State -- Sims, junior attacker John Edmonds and senior defender Anthony Johnson. Five Jesuits were chosen second-team All-State -- sophomore goalie Jack O'Connor, senior short-stick defensive midfielder Ted Long, senior defender Max Trudeau, junior midfielder Cameron Harris and senior attacker Burke Smith.

Warde senior captain Brian Kerrigan was second-team All-State on defense in Class L.

The players and coaches will be honored at the Connecticut High School Coaches Association All-State banquet on June 25 in Southington.
