Roundup: Greenwich boys swim team too much for Phillips Exeter

The Greenwich High School boys swimming team rolled to a 136-52 win over Phillips Exeter Academy on Sunday, winning every event in the process.

Alex Lewis and Thomas Dillinger each won two individual events for the Cardinals, who improved to 7-0 on the season. Lewis won the 100-yard freestyle (:49.33) and touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke (:53.73). Dillinger had first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:49.63) and 500 freestyle (4:48.73).

Lewis was part of the Cardinals' 200 medley relay team that posted a winning time of 1:40.36. Dillinger swam on Greenwich's 200 freestyle relay team, which placed first in 1:31.33. Also winning their respective events for Greenwich were: Andrew Stotesbery (200 individual medley, 2:02.10), Ed Moss (50 freestyle, :22.74); Jeff Aselin (diving, career-high 290.50 points), Jack Montesi (100 butterfly, :55.26) and Iain Edmundson (100 breaststroke, 1:04.08).

The Cardinals will host Danbury on Friday, before visiting arch rival Fairfield Prep on Saturday at 4 p.m.

WRESTLING

Greenwich went 2-3 at the Ludlowe Duals Saturday, defeating East Lyme and Platt Tech., while losing to Ludlowe, Trumbull and Norwich Free Academy.

The Cardinals beat East Lyme, 72-3, and topped Platt Tech, 54-24. They lost to Ludlowe (54-17), Trumbull (47-27) and NFA (47-22).

Eric Tack (152-pounds) went 5-0 with four pins on the day for the Cardinals (9-6). Mike Gestal (160) went 4-1, as did Chris Fisher (285) for Greenwich. Alex Margeotes (113) was 3-1. The Cards will host Bridgeport Central Wednesday.
