BRIDGEPORT -- Any time Sacred Heart men's hockey team caught a whiff of momentum Sunday, Holy Cross was there to stomp them back down.
The Crusaders' four-goal second period helped them beat Sacred Heart 6-3 at Webster Bank Arena, dropping the Pioneers to 0-8-1.
Holy Cross responded quickly to the Pioneers' first two goals. The third came too late.
"It's something that maybe we've addressed as a team a little bit," Pioneers coach C.J. Marottolo said. "The shifts after you score a goal and after you give up a goal are the most important shifts in a game. We haven't executed in those situations."
A turnover 28 seconds later, and Holy Cross tied it.
The Crusaders scored goals 46 seconds apart in the second period to take a 3-1 lead, and another goal four minutes later chased freshman goalie Fredrik Melander.
Greenwich's Ben Ketchum got the Pioneers back into it. The Crusaders scored less than three minutes later.
"We scored, in two games this weekend, six goals," Marottolo said. "In college hockey, that gives you a chance to win games. We gave up 11."
