Lewisburg, PA — John Burdick kicked a career-long 46-yard field goal as time expired to lead Bucknell to a 34-31 victory over Sacred Heart Saturday.

Sacred Heart, now 2-2 after its second straight loss, rallied from 14 points down in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 31 on Lawrence Nembhard’s 45-yard touchdown reception from Kevin Duke with 4:12 left in the game. The Pioneers forced a Bison punt and had the ball near midfield, but Ben Richard and Nick Zarkoski teamed up for a fourth-down tackle inches shy of the line to gain, giving the Bison a last chance to win it.

At one point the Pioneers trailed 17-0 but got a field goal along with touchdowns from its defense and special teams. The touchdowns included a 60-yard interception return by Kevin Barry followed by a 98-yard kick return by Ezekiel Ennis midway through the third quarter.

An 11-yard touchdown by Eli Terry capped a 79-yard drive for Sacred Heart in the fourth quarter that brought the Pioneers to within seven (31-24). Duke, who was 14 of 29 for 244 yards passing, then connected with Nembhard to tie the game.

Terry led Sacred Heart with 66 yards on 16 carries. Byron Barney caught a team-high four passes for 91 yards while Nembhard made three receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown.

Kevin Sears made a team-high 16 tackles, including nine solo, for the Pioneers. CJ Parvelus recorded 14 tackles while Barry and Khaamal Whitaker made 10 tackles each.
