Warde donates

$800 to ACS

The Fairfield Warde High School football program has donated $800 to the American Cancer Society, the proceeds from its Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraising activities in October.

The donation was presented to an ACS official during the Mustangs' Senior Night ceremony before its Nov. 8 game against St. Joseph, the Fairfield Warde Gridiron Club said in a news release.

The club's Mustangs Care Committee conducted a "Crucial Catch Campaign" to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. The main fundraising event, according to the release, was during halftime of the varsity team's Oct. 18 game, when freshman players passed helmets to collect donations from fans of both the Mustangs and visiting Wilton.
