Tournament schedules for basketball, hockey, gymnastics

FCIAC boys hockey

The Fairfield co-op (7-5-0) is the No. 6 seed for the FCIAC boys ice hockey quarterfinals that will be played Friday and Saturday at Terry Connors Rink in Stamford. Fairfield will play No. 3 New Canaan (10-1-1) on Friday at 6:10 p.m. New Canaan beat Fairfield 7-2 on Feb. 23 in Bridgeport. The semifinals will be Wednesday at Connors Rink. Fairfield, the defending state champion, is the likely No. 15 seed for the CIAC Division II tournament that begins on March 10.

SCC, SWC boys basketball

Fairfield Prep and Notre Dame-Fairfield will be playing boys basketball quarterfinals in their conference tournaments on Saturday. The Jesuits (20-0), the top rated team in the state, will play at 11 a.m. at Branford High School against the winner of a Thursday first-round game between No. 9 Notre Dame-West Haven (13-7) and No. 8 Cheshire (13-7). Prep in the No. 1 seed.

The Lancers (16-4), the No. 1 seed in the SWC tournament at 13-1, will play at 7 p.m. at Bunnell High School in Stratford against No. 8 Barlow (9-11), which finished 7-7 in the conference. The SCC semifinals will be Monday at East Haven High School; the SWC semis are Tuesday at Newtown High School.

CIAC gymmnastics

Fairfield Ludlowe, the FCIAC runner-up, is seeded fourth of eight teams for the CIAC Class L Gymnastics Championships Saturday at Pomperaug High School in Southbury at 5 p.m. The Falcons' season point-scoring average is 132.47. No. 3 Trumbull, Staples (No. 6) and Greenwich (No. 8) also qualified. Fairfield Warde (127.46) is seeded fourth in Class M, whose competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Pomperaug.

The Mustangs, seventh in the conference championships, will face No. 2 Wilton and No. 5 Darien. The State Open is scheduled for March 8 at New Milford High School.

CIAC girls basketball

Fairfield Warde and Fairfield Ludlowe will play CIAC Class LL girls basketball first-round games in Fairfield on Monday night. The Falcons (15-6) are seeded 15th and will play No. 18 Ridgefield (13-7).

The Mustangs (15-6) are the No. 14 seed and will face No. 19 Trumbull (13-7). The second round is scheduled for Thursday.
