Warde in state playoffs, topping Ludlowe 8-2

Fairfield Warde starting pitcher Dan Warren went the distance, striking out 11 as the Mustangs clinched a trip to the state playoffs with an 8-2 win over arch-rival Fairfield Ludlowe on Wednesday at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport.

Warren scattered four hits in seven innings. Warde centerfielder Mike Foley scored three runs and third baseman Dario Pugliano drove in four as the Mustangs beat the Falcons for the eighth time in nine meetings.

Ludlowe catcher Mike Poudrier drove in two runs. The Falcons fell to 5-5.
